All evening events will be held at the American Serbian Club, 2524 Sarah Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203. The Club will be OPEN FOR BUSINESS every night beginning at 6:00 pm.
The Braća Tamburica Orchestra of Chicago will be the featured band for a special Tambura Night in Pittsburgh, PA Friday July 26, 2013. This will be the first stop on a two city trip into Pennsylvania. The second show will be on Saturday night July 27th in Steelton, PA at the St. Lawrence Club. We welcome all of our many friends, fans, Duquesne Alumni, musicians, and kolo dancers in the Tri-State area, to join us for a huge reunion and party night. 41 years have lapsed since Rudy Grasha last rocked this area with his awesome accordion playing, and, along with his talented bandmates are expected to put on a great show. In the front row you have two current candidates for nomination to the Tamburitza Hall of Fame, Rudy Grasha on accordion and Wally Pravica on violin. Wally is originally from Hamilton, Ontario and grew up playing in the Lackawanna/Buffalo area with the likes of Tillie Klaich and Charlie Smilinich. He later went on to play with the Medich Brothers, Marty Kapugi and the Dunav Orchestras throughout his career. In the back row is a pretty solid core of musicians with two additional Hall of Famers in John Gornick on celo, and Band Leader, Rich Krilich, on bugaria. The band is anchored by their very talented bass player, Frank Mosca. This should make for a great night of music and camaraderie for all.

SNF Three-Day 2013
SNF Pittsburgh 3-Day is right around the corner – just two short weeks from now and we are excited! Here is all the information to finalize your adventure.
Friday, July 19, 2013 will be the 97th Annual Serbian Day at Kennywood Park. Who could forget all the rain last year? We’re praying for better weather this year but remember that if you bought a ticket and didn’t get to use it, your 2012 Serbian Day ticket will be accepted ONLY on 2013 Serbian Day. If you were in the park when it closed, they handed you an orange ticket at the gate; this will also be accepted ONLY on Serbian Day 2013. For those of you who need tickets, the SNF is selling them at a discounted rate that not only saves you money, but helps provide funds for our Scholarships. Our rates are cheaper than Giant Eagle prices. In fact, we’re keeping the 2012 prices firm this year, even though Kennywood has increased them.
(add $1 amusement tax to all prices):
Regular FunDay Pass (Ages 3-54) $25.00
Senior FunDay Pass (Age 55+) $13.00
Vouchers: pay at the Kennywood gate:
70+ all day $10.00
Ages 3-54 after 5pm $18.00
Kids (2 and under) Free
The gates at Kennywood open at 10:30 a.m. and the rides, attractions, and refreshment stands will begin opening at 11:00 a.m. Why not ride all day right up to the evening program?
The large pavilion, number 5, will be Little Serbia at Kennywood when the SNF program begins at 6:00 p.m. Come enjoy the fellowship and the entertainment and celebrate the 2013 SNF Person of the Year for SNF Lodge #171, their president, Milan Momcilovich. Folklore ensemble performance guests will travel from Akron and Cleveland, Ohio, to demonstrate their talents.
Longtime supporter and President of SNF Lodge #7, Djuro Klipa, has agreed to be Master of Ceremonies for the program.
The Holy Trinity Nikola Tesla Men’s Club will be providing roast lamb and pig at Kennywood (and also the picnic on Sunday).
Saturday, July 20, 2013 is the afternoon for sailing on the Majestic, the big boat in the Gateway Clipper fleet. Boarding begins at noon but tailgating is available in the parking lot upon arrival. Remember when we used to leave folks at the dock and so many people were dancing that you could see the boat rocking from shore? Let’s do it again! This big boat will be retired from the fleet this year, so let’s send it out in Serbian style. The boat sails from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Osvezenje Bend (Justin Greenwald, Brock Belich of Pittsburgh, Sinisa Trbovic of Detroit, and Boro Daich of Toronto) will own the stage but the dance floor is open, so bring your dancing shoes. This year, we’re sponsoring a Kolo contest. Come and watch or enter the competition for the honor of being chosen Kolo King or Kolo Queen. Go for the “Gilded Opanka!”
In one of our most charming SNF traditions, SNF Board Member Dane Medich will be coordinating the 50/50 Boat Ride raffle.
Boat ride prices are:
Adult (Ages 13-55) $23.00
Senior (Ages 55+) $18.00 (new this year: Senior discount)
Child (Ages 3-12) $10.00
Kids (Age 2 and under) Free
The American Serbian Club on the Southside is where the party again continues well into the night. Sokoli and Osvezenje Bend will be playing on Saturday evening.
The Savez Day picnic will be held Sunday, July 21 at the Holy Trinity Picnic Grounds. Djuro Klipa will be playing in the pavilion while Radost will be in the Dungeon. The groups from Holy Trinity will have an abundance of delicious food and beverages. Help support the church and the SNF and as a reminder, please, do not bring outside refreshments to the picnic.
Lamb will be available on Sunday for the picnic. Pre-orders are recommended.
How much Serbian fun can we have in one weekend? Contact the Savez to purchase tickets: call 412.642.7372 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets will be mailed out until Wednesday, July 10. After that, tickets must be picked up at the Savez until noon on Friday, July 19 or at will-call (guest relations at Kennywood after 11 am on Friday the 19th and the Station Square boat dock on Saturday the 20th at noon).
